In Rwanda, the Land of a Thousand Hills, lies an orphanage in the small community of Ruli that supports over 900 children and youth. Living with the scars of Rwanda’s conflict-ridden past, these youth strive to overcome daily obstacles. Driven by the desire to help these youth and uncertain of how to do so, nine multidisciplinary students from Saskatchewan, Canada embark on a path of discovery.
Kumva Neza, a Kinyarwandan phrase meaning “to better understand,” is the saying that guides these students to the East African nations of Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda. Their mission and hope is to learn of the current realities and needs of the region’s youth and to discover their role in creating change.
